What does it take to create good graphic design?
A. Good graphic design conveys information through an illustration.

What is the difference between elements and principles?

A. Elements are components or parts that can be isolated in any design and principles tell us how to organize those parts on a page.

Name the six (6) elements of design.

A. The 6 elements of design are: line, shape, space, texture, value and color.

What can lines aid in, when alone or combined with  other lines or shapes?

A. They could be used to help the readability, appearance and message of a design.

Which lines suggest a feeling of rest? Why do you think?

A. Horizontal lines suggest a feeling of rest because it is in relation to gravity.

Vertical lines communicate a feeling of what? Why do you think?

A. Vertical lines convey a feeling of loftiness because it goes up into and down like sky to earth.

What lines suggest a feeling of movement? Why do you think?

A. Diagonal lines suggest a feeling of movement because they are not parallel to the ground.

Soft, shallow curved lines suggest what? Why do you think?
A. Soft shallow curved lines suggests comfort, safety and relaxation.

These lines suggest confusion and turbulence? Why do you think?

A. Deep, acute lines suggest confusion and turbulence because they are deep and acute.

What element defines a specific area of space? What is the difference between two dimensional shapes and three dimensional shapes?

A. Shapes is the element that defines a specific area of space. Two dimensional shapes have height and width while three dimensional shapes have height width and depth.

Describe the difference between geometric shapes and organic shapes?

A. Geometric shapes are structured and often symmetrical while organic shapes are found in nature or man made shapes.

What are abstract shapes?
A. Abstract shapes are stylized versions of natural shapes.

A. A circle conveys feelings of infinity or protection.

Describe positive space and negative space? What is texture? Incorporating texture into a design can help do what? What is value?
A. Positive shapes refers to the object and elements used in design while negative shapes refers to the shapes around and between those objects and elements.  Incorporating texture can help the reader feel the material of the printed design. Value is the degree of light and dark.

What is another name for value? What can the element of color do when incorporated into a  design?
A.  The element of color can be applied to any other element.
